At the Centre, we’re providing much-needed online and phone support to our LGBTQ+ community during this crisis. We know many people are feeling isolated from their communities, particularly LGBTQ+ youth who are no longer attending their school GSA meetings.
Many LGBTQ+ youth are at home with families who may not be supportive of their sexual orientation or gender identity. We know that there is an enormous mental health impact when LGBTQ+ youth don’t have support in their lives.
- GSAs play an important role, and students are missing this critical support system while school is out. During this time, we’re providing online GSA support to students and teachers who are looking for connection and resources. Xtra Magazine recently covered the work we’re doing in this article: https://bit.ly/3513Ksn
- We also provide professional counselling services to LGBTQ+ individuals and their families, and are now offering this service through phone and online video so people continue to have the support they need.
- Check our blog post with all the latest updates on our continued services and the recent message from our CEO & President.
We know that mental health is a priority right now, and we are proud to be part of helping LGBTQ+ individuals who need support during this time.
The need is critical, especially for youth and adults who are feeling isolated from their community, or who may not be living in a safe situation.
Please consider making a donation to help us support vulnerable youth and adults in our community during this pandemic. Your #GivingTuesdayNow donation will help us continue our work to ensure the LGBTQ+ community feels safe and supported during the crisis.
