fYrefly-in-Schools is an awesome classroom workshop designed to support safer spaces in our city’s Junior/Senior High Schools for LGBTQ+ youth. We are looking for youth panelists who are interested in sharing their experiences as part of this classroom presentation. This is an excellent volunteer opportunity!
Based on the award-winning Camp fYrefly, fYrefly-in-Schools aims to increase LGBTQ+ awareness and the impact of homophobic/transphobic bullying, and equip students to challenge discrimination and become effective allies. Experienced educators facilitate activity-based workshops with help from a youth peer education team.
Our youth panelists must attend our fun and friendly training session on the role of the panelists and the content of the workshop. This training will be held on Saturday, October 3 at the Calgary Sexual Health Centre office from 10:30 am – 3:00 pm —> and lunch is provided!
If you are under 25 and you would like to participate, please RSVP to finscgy@ualberta.ca.
